Today MP5SAC, a newly-formed tenant-run nonprofit organization, extends an invitation to the victims of Tuesdays tragic downtown apartment fire to become tenants at Milepost 5.

“We have plenty of space available to help. It’s the right thing to do” stated President/Founder of the Artists Collective, Sarah L. Gerhardt.

Milepost 5 Studios has had its fair share of troubles in recent times with poor management.

“This could have easily been us if CDP
(Milepost 5 Studios Owners) hadn’t done the right thing.”

Thanks to the tireless efforts of the Tenants Association and the Artists Collective, bridges are being built and changes are finally taking place. At the beginning of the month it was announced that a new management company would be stepping in on June 1st.

“We are nervous, but hopeful, that we will start to see big changes in how this place is run. We certainly will be watching closely. This is a good first step in the healing process for us all,” remarked Ms. Gerhardt, a resident artist and community organizer.

“I believe the arts are a great healer. And we have tons of space right now since so many others abandoned ship when Guardian was in charge.”

If you are a victim of Tuesdays tragic fire and would like to be considered for residency here at Milepost 5 studios, please contact President of the artists collective, Sarah L. Gerhardt, and she can help you get in touch with the new management team to complete an application.

(You must meet the income requirements of the federal low income community to qualify.)
